Probably one of the most popular cycling sportive in the world the La Marmotte Sportive has now been running for over 20 years. This website is a quick resource guide on the event, accommodation options and the correct equipment to use for the event.

The event usually takes place on the first weekend of July with entries going on sale in the December. Entries usually sell out fairly quick so don’t leave it until the last moment.

The event starts in the market town of Bourg d’Oisans at the base of Alpe d’Huez. The first summit comes after 40km up the Hors Catergory Col du Glandon. Then follows a long decent and valley ride to the bottom of the Col du Télégraphe. From the bottom of the Télégraphe there is a huge clim up to the highest point of the sportive – The Col du Galibier. Once at the top of the Galibier you have a 50LM decent to the bottom of Alpe d’Huez. From here you have the 21 bend climb of Alpe d’Huez. Only 13KM but guaranteed to be the hardest 13km of your life !!
